Blogtacular 2017 was another year of connections, learning, fun and frolics in the heart of London. Bloggers and entrepreneurs came from across the UK, Europe and the USA to spend two days soaking up inspiration, meeting online BFFs and making plans. We have a huge number of people to thank so let’s tell you about the event and everyone who made it happen.
The event began on Friday 9th June with simultaneous video and photowalks across the city where people explored new areas and captured the magic to share on Instagram. Photowalks have been part of Blogtacular from the very first event and they are a great way to get to know people and create images for blogs & instagram. On Friday evening West Elm threw open their doors for an evening of discussion, friendship and unicorn smoothies. We were kept refreshed courtesy of Cranes who sent us their delicious ciders.
Our venue was decorated by the incredibly talented B of Pop Pop Papier, she filled the space with balloons and streamers to reflect the energy of Blogtacular. The photo backdrop alone made it onto every instagram selfie. Check out here work and keep an eye out for her Pop Pop Party Shop which is coming soon.
This year’s Market Place was filled with more indie businesses than ever before as well as our own merch stall which featured products from makers attending the conference. On the merch stall we had Geo Heaven, Finest Imaginary, Zabby Allen, Oh No Rachio, Diglot etc, Little Magpies, Claireabelle Makes & Nikki McWilliams and in the Market Place was Baking Time Club, Capture by Lucy, Elbie & Co, Planes Workshop, Fickle Craftroom, Honeywell Bakes and Jacqueline Colley.
West Elm ran a competition for attendees where they could win a room in their home £2,000 makeover plus styling advice from their expert team to create their Dream West Elm. The entries were so strong that the West Elm team decided to award two runner up prizes which went to Afro Glory & The Salted Tail who each won a £250 gift card to show their space some love.
The overall winner created a miniature replica of their dream room complete with hand-stitched corner sofa was Hester! You can see the whole makeover plan and doll’s house video on her blog. Congratulations to all of the winners, we can’t wait to see what you do next.
West Elm joined sponsors blogfoster and Mollie Makes who both held popular workshops on the day. Cath Dean, editor of Mollie Makes, gave a fascinating talk on finding your niche which was absolutely packed with useful tips to actually carve out a space for your work in a competitive space.
Simon Staib of blogfoster held 1-2-1s on the Creative Genius Bar as well as delivering a workshop on how to avoid the biggest mistakes in influencer marketing.
Do not be ashamed of wanting to make money from your blog. – Simon Staib, blogfoster
All of our speakers brought their A-game and there were so many incredible tips, catch up on #blogtacular and our 2017 Pinterest board as it fills up to find out what people’s biggest take aways were.
Blogtacular takes a huge amount of work to create and execute. There are months of meetings, brainstorming, emails and tears that go into making it so excellent. On the day it’s our team who bring it to life and we couldn’t create such a well run event without the volunteers who join us to decorate, direct, hand out, announce and everything else that we do to make your experience the best it can be.
Our 2017 visual identity was created by Judy Andrews who won the goody bag competition. We loved the vibe so much that we had Judy design our programmes and on-site wall decor.
We loved the goody bag entries so much that we chose two runners up to appear on the conference note books, congratulations Cakes With Faces and Katie Moody for making the judging difficult. We will blog the full short list as they were so amazing.
Our goody bags are always a highlight of the day. We love supporting indie businesses in connecting with influencers who can take their products to a larger audience. This year in the bags we had: Hello Memo, Craftiosity, Crafty Fox Market & Shopping with Soul, Twin Pines, Chococo, Baking Time Club, Honeywell Bakes, Cult Vision and A Spoonful of Sugar Co alongside a Blogtacular planning notepad. Thanks to Rachel for styling the goody bag goodies shot.
Our speakers were all gifted an extra special personalised SoS15 Lightning Bolt clutch which we are in *love* with!
