Comedians Helen Thorn and Ellie Gibson met on the stand-up circuit. They bonded after discovering their sons were born 11 days apart, with the help of the same midwife.
Together they host The Scummy Mummies Podcast, which launched in July 2013. It was an instant hit, going straight to number one on the iTunes Kids & Family chart. Since then the show has been featured by The Telegraph, and recommended by Woman’s Hour as one of the best podcasts of 2016.
It has listeners in over a hundred countries and has featured parenting experts and celebrities such as Sandi Toksvig, David Baddiel, Sally Phillips, Kathy Lette, Stacey Solomon, Miles Jupp and Cherry Healey.
The Scummy Mummies also perform a live comedy show that celebrates the scummier side of parenting with sketches, songs, and top quality boob jokes. They have performed all around the country and are favourites with mums’ groups, school PTAs, and festivals, including a regular spot at Camp Bestival.
The Scummy Mummies’ first book is due for publication in time for Mothers’ Day 2017.
